Part of a good oral health routine involves visiting our offices at least twice a year. We also recommend coming to visit us if you are having any issues with your teeth and gums.
Many people are able to visit us when they need to, but there are some people who have a fear of visiting our offices. Dental anxiety is something that many suffer from. Some people can overcome it on their own. Others need help from us to make sure they take good care of their teeth and gums.
Overcoming Dental Anxiety
The biggest problem that people have helping someone overcome dental anxiety is that they think it is something a person should just get over. They imagine that a person can simply put their fears aside and do what they need to do. This is easy to say, but difficult for people to do. The fears they have are real and not something they can easily ignore. That is where we can help people who suffer from dental anxiety.
Tools We Have The good news for people is that we have many tools to help with dental anxiety. We offer help in three main areas. We help people overcome dental anxiety through people, place and a few tools.
People - Our staff are trained to help make everyone in our office as comfortable as possible. We will answer all questions and we will greet everyone in a friendly manner. We will help people relax when they schedule an appointment and when they come to our office.
The Office - People have a fear of dentists because they think of the office as a scary place. We work to make our office as comfortable as possible. This extends from the waiting room to the examination room. Instead of being sterile and unwelcoming, we work to keep our office as bright and happy as possible.
The Tools - From relaxing music to sedation medications, we offer all of our patients tools that can help reduce their dental anxiety.
Overcoming dental anxiety is possible if everyone tries. From the patient to the people in our office, we want everyone to stay as relaxed as possible to make every visit something they can look forward to instead of something they try to avoid.
