Dentistry has come a long way from the days in which treatments were done without anesthesia, and patient comfort was not on the radar. Nowadays, we want you to come and regularly visit because with new information we know how important your oral health is to your overall health. If you have dental anxiety, you may be wondering how you can be more comfortable during our exams, and we want you to know that we are here to help. Patient Comfort is Our Top PriorityAside from taking care of your oral health issues such as cavities, our primary goal is to keep you comfortable during our exams, so you are motivated to come back regularly. If you don't have any significant oral conditions, visiting us twice a year for a dental cleaning is the bare minimum to maintain a healthy mouth and teeth. If you had a traumatic dental experience when you were younger, it is hard to put it behind you and the mere mention of the word dentist, gives you chills up your spine. You know you have to get your regular checkups, but you are terrified of feeling pain or getting lectured about not visiting more often. The first thing you must do is tell us about your fears. If you are a new patient, we ask you to fill out forms about your health history, and there you will find a question about concerns of the dentist. If you can give us information about past experiences, we will do everything in our power to make you feel at ease. If you are very uncomfortable visiting our office, we can also help you relax by using laughing gas or nitrous oxide, a colorless, odorless anesthetic. You will never get a lecture for not visiting us more often, but we will encourage you to do so for the sake of your oral and overall health. Please don't hesitate to tell us if you have any fears and we can make you more comfortable during our exams. |
